DescriptionA metabolite in the principal biochemical pathway of lysine. It antagonizes neuroexcitatory activity modulated by the glutamate receptor, N-methyl-D-aspartate; (NMDA). Alpha-aminoadipate is an intermediate in the metabolism of lysine and saccharopine. [HMDB]. Aminoadipic acid is found in many foods, some of which are parsnip, red beetroot, spinach, and green bell pepper.
