Detailed Area of Research | Research in my group has focused on total synthesis of oxygenated metabolites cyclic and non cyclic of omega 6 and omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) for over 25 years. Recently we were engaged on synthesis of lipophenols, lipopeptides and on developing GC-MS and LC-MS methodologies to quantify these isoprostanoids. We were the first to describe the total synthesis of series of isoprostanes, neuroprostanes and phytoprostanes as well as dihomo-isofurans, neurofurans and phytofurans. We collaborate with a number of teams all around the word in the field of all these biomolecules and related analogs linked to nutrition health (pain, cardiovascular, neurodegenerative diseases) and recently in the field of agrochemistry with the non enzymatic oxygenated metabolites (phytoprostanes/phytofurans) derived from alpha-linolenic acid (ALA, C18:3 n-3). |
